Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shankar is an American-born British sitar player and music artist. She was among the youngest and first female to win the British House of Commons Shield she has had Nine Grammy Awards nominations and was the first musician of Indian origin to perform live on stage and also act as a host at the ceremony. Anoushka shankar is one of India's most promising stars on the sitar. She is a student as well as granddaughter of legendary Ravi Shankar. She was born in 1982 in London. The first few years of her life were spent between London as well as New Delhi. In New Delhi, she made her first appearance at only 13 years of age. When she moved to Encinitas the state of California, in 1999 she earned an honorary high school certificate. Although she is still very young, Anouskha has an impressive performing and recording. Her father has accompanied her to numerous performances over some time. In 1998 she released her first single album Anourag. The Grammy-nominated Live at Carnegie Hall album was released in 2002. Her career on stage is broad as she's appeared in all of the biggest venues in the world. The career of Anoushka goes far beyond music. She published Bapi The Love of My Life in the year 2002.
